It is indeed nice work, but there are some things that don't work for me. The orc is sitting in a room with a lot of stuff. Books piled up and dark spots everywhere. There is even a cat and an imp in a cage. The scene looks a bit too tidy. Add some dust, some spider rags. The candles are dripping, but there isn't a single drop of wax on the table or floor. Anyway, the work is nice, nice colors, nice composition. So for me to let this scene be more real, step into that scene and understand what goes on in a room of an orc mystic. The orc is not concerned whether some mice are chewing on his books or cat hairs laying around, let alone cleaning wax or spiderrags.
Thumbs up!

I like the tidiness it has its own appeal.
Also, it may be an effective style for illustration where visual clarity is a priority.

Yes, the clarity of this image impressed me. I'm not sure making it messy would add anything to it. Excellent work!

Actually, I think Gijs has a point. I tend too much to tidiness in my paintings, usually having to make a concious effort to add wear and dust. I remember doing an "after a battle" scene some years ago and realizing once it was finished, that all those dead men had impolute clothes on! Not saying that this one in particular should have a lot of dust (being this kind of orc somewhat civilized and all that), but a bit of wear and dust on the books could have worked.
